Description:
Yagcibedir rugs and carpets are a type of carpets that are knotted in Western Anatolia, more specifically in the town of Balikesir, a city in Turkey's Marmara region. They are believed to have been first made by former nomadic tribes called Yayci Yoruks who lived around the villages of Sindirgi and Bigadic. Lambswool is used in its production and the colors red, indigo blue and white appear frequently in the patterns, but shades of cream, red and brown can also be found in some carpets. The Yagcibedir carpets are famous for their creative patterns. Although the patterns in these rugs are usually very simple, each rug is intended to tell a story with these simple patterns and colors. Patterns in Yagcibedir carpets include sun, eagles, trees, cherries, tulips, stars and apples. Each pattern in these carpets has a specific meaning related to Turkey's centuries-long history and fascinating culture. This is a very nice example of a Yagcebedir Halisi from Anatolia. It has a good appearance and the pile height is intact. Typical size and color combination for this type of anatolian rug.
