Description:
Ekbatan and today also called Hamadan is a region and a city in Iran and is still an important trading center and trading center for oriental carpets. There are over 400 villages where carpets are knotted in the region, with almost every one of these carpets traveling through Hamedan sooner or later. Well-known carpets from the Hamedan region are: Alamdar, Assadiabad, Hosseinabad (also: Husseinabad), Borjalou, Kolyai, Liliehan, Mehravan, Mossul, Nahavand, Tafrish, Tuisarkhan, Rudbar, Saveh and many more. Hamadan carpets are easy to recognize by their structure. They often have white weft threads that run unevenly. Hamedan carpets are also described in detail in Cecil E. Edwards carpet book “The Persian Carpet” by Duckworth publishing and have a certain collector's value.
